“Survival can be summed up in three words – never give up.
That’s the heart of it really. Just keep trying.”
— Bear Grylls

I am going to preface this post by saying I am in the middle of finals week. I have done more writing in the last fourteen weeks than in the past ten years. My brain is fried, so I am going to make this short!
Do you watch the show, Survivor? I don't, but I get a general idea of how it works. Have you ever felt like you were a contestant on the show and the "island" was your life?? That is how I have felt over the last three and a half months. I am finishing up my first full semester away from home, and let me tell you; it was not easy! A test of endurance for sure. This semester, I studied, completed endless assignments, and wrote a research paper. I was away from my husband for more days this semester than in our entire married life. I missed my youngest son. On top of all that, I battled a chronic infection and vertigo. Somehow, by the grace of God, I made it through the semester. During one of my many meltdowns, my daughter asked me, "Why are you doing this if it is so hard?" My response, "It feels like what I am called to do right now." There were numerous times when I considered throwing in the towel, but I would ask myself, "What would you be doing right now if you were not in school?" I didn't have an answer. Sometimes God says, "Just trust me!"
Making it through the tough stuff is never easy! However, I am certain that our greatest growth takes place in our most difficult moments.
I couldn't get the song, Survivor by Destiny's Child out of my mind, so enjoy. The song is about a guy, but try listening to it another way.
What is it you survived or something you need to put behind you? Insert that in the first line of the lyrics and throughout the song.
"Now that you're out of my life ( insert ), I'm so much better...."
Never Give Up!
